We need experienced site managers to join the PDB team and help us continue to deliver new residential development projects for our long standing clent base.

We’re looking for

A construction Site Manager with proven experience in the residential sector, of project values in range from £2m - £9m, with preferably good exposure in the affordable housing market.

We believe that people are what determines the success of our goals. We would like team players who’ll integrate well, pitch in to help other team members when needed, and endorse our ethos of we’re all working towards the same end goal.

We’re a small but established business, and you’ll need to be self-motivated, completely trustworthy and able to manage your own delivery to hit project milestones.

You’ll be flying the PDB flag for us to partners and clients, so being personable and a good communicator will be important.

But, being a bit candid and unreserved from time to time isn’t going to hurt either!

This is a great opportunity to join an established and reputable SME main contractor at an exciting interval of our development, with several live projects underway, a number of projects pending commencement and ongoing investment, enabling a platform for continuing sustainable growth.

What we’ll be asking you to do
 

As a site manager, you will be under the direction and support of the Project Manager and wider construction team. You will be responsible for your allocated project, from site commencement through to practical completion and handover.

 

  • Organise, plan and coordinate the works, materials and resources on site

  • Achieve target completion dates or improve on construction programme and within budget

  • Manage and supervise all workers and sub-contract partners and ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities

  • Ensure project records are kept up to date, including daily diary, site photos and weather reports

  • Monitor and control the progress of works to ensure the PDB levels of health and safety are maintained at all times

  • Ensure all relevant health and safety documentation is displayed appropriately on-site, in line with PDBs operating policy, and is adhered to at all times on site.

  • Coordinate and manage the completion of all trade packages, ensuring internal team and supply partners adhere to the high-quality standards of works PDB set, to meet the clients’ product requirements

  • Through the philosophy of collaborative working and the same goal approach, develop a proactive team approach with our supply chain partners

  • Ensure full use of PDBs company Quality Policy, to monitor and sign off the quality of finished work

  • Communicate and work collaboratively with PDB, client and statutory inspecting personnel to ensure the project progresses in line with specific requirements

  • In collaboration with the construction team, ensure any remedial measures are taken by the relevant sub-contract partner, at no cost to PDB

  • Monitor and manage site resource levels, communicating with the construction team to ensure sufficient numbers on site to undertake the work adequately and finish within target dates

  • Attend weekly progress meetings and produce the required time-line of works/action points

  • Monitor and maintain the presentation of site fundamentals such as access, boundaries, hoarding, fencing and site accommodation to ensure PDB continues to present in a positive manner to both the public, our client and our supply chain partners.

  • Ensure site accommodation is kept in a clean and presentable condition, site offices are suitably accessible and are appropriate to receive visitors

  • Assist the construction team to compile the defects list and actionable sign off with client representatives. Thereafter assist the after-care team to cure any defects within the twelve-month defects period

  • Maintain a positive and collaborative communication channel with all external parties to promote our ethos of the same goal approach.

Permanent: We’re absolutely looking for permanent members for our growing team, as we have exciting plans for the future! Of course, there will be a short try-out period to establish if we both feel this new role is a good fit for each of us.
 

Working Hours: We’re looking for about 40 hours per week, which would be thought of as industry standard for this role. Our sites typically operate from 8 am until 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
 

Location: We work right across the South Wales region. Some see it as a way of experiencing our country’s beautiful landscape all year round.

Salary: We’ll be competitive of course. This will also depend on the conversation we have over your role and previous experience.

Skills + Qualifications?

 

  • Previous Site Manager with at least 5 years’ experience, preferably within the affordable housing sector.

  • Confident individual with proven organisational skills and the ability to coordinate activities in a fast-paced construction environment

  • Thorough knowledge of health & safety including CDM regulations awareness

  • Excellent organisation and self-management skills, self-motivated, flexible and with an enthusiastic approach to work

  • Ability to motivate and organise others toward a team goal with strong interpersonal skills

  • CSCS card

  • SMSTS

  • Valid First Aid certificate

  • Strong Knowledge of civils and drainage works

  • IT literate – We use Microsoft 365 for business as part of our management and information storage. Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel and Word with the familiarity of the Internet for business use.

Pendragon Design and Build was formed in 1984.
 

Since then, we have been acting as main contractors in the South Wales region and specialise in new build residential development for registered social landlords and private clients across the region.
 

This near 40 year involvement in this sector has enabled us to develop strong relationships and reputations with our RSL client base and supporting supply chain, which has aided in the development of 1000's of new homes.


Pendragon wishes to continue aiding in the provision of much needed affordable homes across South Wales in the future and have exciting plans to direct the company towards these goals and more. As a foundation to all these targets sits our primary ethos to establish a collaborative working environment with all invested project stakeholders, to ensure the most efficient and highest quality product is available upon completion.
