New Road, Rumney, Cardiff

The scheme included the construction of 21 new dwellings, at the Old Roofing Works site on New Road, Rumney, Cardiff. There are a mix of flats and houses throughout the development.
The scheme came with numerous challenges; however, we are extremely proud to have completed the Employers Requirements for this scheme, and look forward to the tenants occupying the dwellings.

The site sat off a busy Cardiff highway and was located in a large existing and busy residential area. Careful consideration was needed for traffic management, visible boundary and site notices, to ensure existing residents contact with the construction phase was limited as best as possible.

Due to previous uses on the site, there were high levels of contamination to remediate before any works could be undertaken. We were delighted that through outstanding team collaborative efforts, all contamination was removed from site and it became safe to continue with proposed development works.  

The development is also adjacent to the London Paddington - Swansea railway line. This led to discussions with Network Rail to develop a strategy to make sure that throughout the construction process, health and safety was paramount for both Pendragon and users of the railway line.
